National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada report #115 From the President, John Carlson NAACC Accomplishments April 2024 –taken from NAACC Report #115 Submitted by NAACC VCCC Rep & NAACC President John Carlson Hello members and executive of the Vintage Car Club of Canada and collector car friends. I was asked recently to update and provide a list of our NAACC accomplishments. In the past months the NAACC has sent and published overviews of what the NAACC has accomplished and is currently doing for its membership. This information is also provided directly to the VCCC through the NAACC representatives to your group. This information has also been provided in many past reports and is also listed on our website. www.naacc.ca Our quarterly reports are also sent directly to the VCCC national president as well as many members of the VCCC. Here is an overview again with more depth. Read the full report here 2024 May Tour- Exciting News! Sunny Daze in the North Okanagan – T our Dates: May 17, 18, & 19 We are ready for a great Tour. We hope you will join in the fun. We are driving the scenic pastoral back road of the sunny North Okanagan – so beautiful in springtime. Headquarters for the weekend is at the Prestige Vernon Lodge, in the center of Vernon, 3914 32 nd St. (Hwy 97). We have planned great evening entertainment each night. Friday : Registration 2:00 PM to 9:00PM, Meet & Greet from 6:00 PM with Valve Cover Races, Saturda y: Early start – Tour leaves Prestige Lodge by 9:00 AM touring to venues in Armstrong and Enderby with a planned lunch stop mid day. Return to Vernon Lodge for Dinner & Dance with live band, the Dixie Fried Hep Katz. They will get your toes tapping. Sunday : Tour leaves for Salmon Arm with a full day of interesting stops and lunch mid day. White Post Auto Museum is adjacent to Rust Brothers Property and you may be able to fit in a few minutes there too. Return to Vernon Lodge for Dinner & Gala evening with National Awards and lots of fun Tour Committee Awards to be presented. Best Regards: Your Tour Committee On behalf of the Collector Car Hobby in Canada we are trying to persuade the Federal Government to allow the continued use of Ethanol free fuel . We have put forward a petition to allow the continued use of Ethanol free fuel (see below). The Federal Government has approved this petition. All we ask is that you and or your memberships be informed and we ask that you and they please sign the following petition. (It takes less than 1 minute) . The petition is ‘live’ and ready for your signature : https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Sign/e-4735 Petition to the Government of Canada Whereas: Ethanol blended gasoline is destructive to older vehicles fuel systems; Tens of thousands of classic car owners across Canada are left with no suitable fuel to purchase; This government has not taken any of these issues into consideration before banning ethanol free gas from the pumps; Ethanol absorbs water which leads to water condensation inside fuel tanks, carburetor fuel bowls and fuel lines where air spaces are present; Water content in fuel will also cause swelling inside fuel filters which can restrict fuel flow; Ethanol erodes fibreglass tanks, rubber hoses and plastic fuel lines; It contributes to rust in fuel systems and will also dissolve varnish and rust in steel fuel components, which can then clog the fuel filter; These issues will incur serious repair costs; Classic cars hold a nostalgic place in our hearts and minds, and are enjoyed not only by owners, but also by the public at many summer car shows; Many classic car clubs also engage in a range of charities and other social and community causes and needs; and Collectively, owners spend millions of dollars per year in various communities, businesses and related car show activities.
